Keep

Keeping your pet should be the number one goal when you are considering bringing home a new pet. This is why doing the preliminary research is so important. During the research period, you should have learned of any quirks or traits that the animal may have that you don’t feel will fit in your life or lifestyle. If this is the case, then you can make the choice to research a different pet, or make adjustments in your own life to accommodate those quirks or traits. If you know of them ahead of time, then you are better able to understand and accept them. This makes the choice of bringing that animal into your life much better in the long run.

During that learning time, it is also important to have  considered what you can and can not put up with. If you are a light sleeper, than having a hamster in your bedroom or in a room close to yours, may not work out. Or if you are an office worker who is required to wear professional clothes, then you may not appreciate the magnetic quality of dog and cat hair on your business suit. This is why it is so important to talk with actual owners and when possible, clubs or associations that specialize in that animal, or in the case of dogs and cats, specific breeds. The more time you spend thoroughly researching your chosen pet, the more successful the outcome will be.

When you have taken the time to learn as much as you can about the particular pet, done the research and talked to various people who are involved with that animal, and have taken the necessary time to train it, chances are good that you will be happy with your choice and have developed a strong, positive relationship with your new pet. This will make it very easy to keep your pet.
